About this policy
Boost Online collects and holds the personal information described in this policy. Our postal address is Boost Online, PO Box 954, Palmerston North 4440. We are based in Palmerston North and work with businesses across New Zealand. This policy explains how we handle personal information when you visit our website, send an enquiry or use our services.
It covers our local SEO, Google Business Profile management and agreed website work. We handle personal information under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. This policy explains our practices; visiting the website is not blanket consent to unrelated uses of your information.
Information you give us
When you request a free profile check or send an enquiry, we collect your name, email address, business name, main service area and the budget information you enter. You may also provide a phone number, website address, Google Business Profile link and a message.
We use these details to check the public business information, reply to you and discuss suitable work. Providing them is voluntary, but without the required contact and business details we may not be able to complete the check or respond. You can enter ‘Not sure yet’ in the budget field.
If you become a client, we may also hold proposal and invoice records, correspondence, approved content, photos and the account-access details needed for the agreed work. Please do not send your Google password, payment-card details or sensitive customer information through our enquiry form.
Information from other sources
For a profile check or local SEO work, we may review your public website, Google Business Profile, business directories and public reviews. This can include personal information where it appears in a business listing, review or photo.
A client may provide business contacts, approved photos or customer information needed for agreed work. We ask clients to have a lawful basis for sharing it and to give people any notices required.
Where we collect personal information indirectly, we will provide any notice required by the Privacy Act, unless an exception applies. A client’s responsibilities do not replace our own.
Why we use information
We use relevant information to answer enquiries, prepare proposals, deliver and report on agreed work, manage accounts and invoices, and resolve questions or complaints. We also use technical information to operate and protect the website and understand how it is used.
Agreed work may involve publishing business contact details, service information, approved photos and content on a website, Google Business Profile or business directory. Information published there is public. We will agree which contact details should be public, including whether an address should be hidden for a service-area business.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use a client’s customer list for our own marketing. Any promotional messages we send must have a lawful basis and give you a way to opt out; service and billing messages are separate.
Who may receive information
Information may be shared with the people and service providers needed for the work, such as website hosting, email delivery, security, analytics, accounting and payment services. Google and directory operators receive information submitted to their platforms as part of the agreed work.
Access should be limited to what is needed for the task. We may also disclose information where you authorise it, where the law requires or permits it, or where it is needed for a lawful purpose such as responding to a serious security incident.
Google and other independent platforms have their own privacy policies. If we are asked to handle customer information on a client’s behalf, the client’s instructions and privacy responsibilities also apply.
Cookies, analytics and external content
This website is configured to use Google Analytics to help us understand visits and website use. Analytics can involve cookies or similar identifiers and information such as pages viewed, device and browser details, referral sources and approximate location. It is separate from the information you type into an enquiry form.
The website and its security tools may also process technical information, including IP addresses, to operate the site, limit spam and detect misuse. Where a page loads a Google map or other external content, that provider may receive technical information about your visit.
You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect some features. You can read Google’s Privacy Policy and its Analytics opt-out information for more about Google’s tools.
Storage, security and overseas providers
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access or disclosure. No online service can promise complete security. Please contact us promptly if you believe information shared with us has been exposed.
Some service providers may store or process information outside New Zealand. Where a provider acts only on our behalf, we remain responsible for the personal information we hold. If we disclose information to an overseas recipient for its own use, we must meet the applicable overseas-disclosure requirements of the Privacy Act.
We keep information only for as long as it is needed for a lawful purpose, such as handling an enquiry, providing services, keeping required business records or resolving a dispute. When it is no longer needed, we will delete it or remove identifying details, subject to lawful retention needs and backup processes.
Your access and correction rights
You can ask whether we hold personal information about you and request access to it. You can also ask us to correct information that is wrong. We may need to confirm your identity before providing access.
If we do not make a correction you request, you can ask us to attach a statement of the correction sought. We will handle requests under the Privacy Act and explain any lawful reason for refusing a request.
You can ask us to delete information, but deletion is not an absolute right under the Privacy Act. We may need to retain some records for a lawful purpose. You can also ask us to stop optional marketing messages.
Questions or privacy concerns
To make a privacy request or raise a concern, email [email protected] and address your message to the Privacy Officer. You can also write to Privacy Officer, Boost Online, PO Box 954, Palmerston North 4440. Tell us what information or issue your request relates to. Do not include sensitive details that are not needed.
We will review your concern and respond. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
We may update this policy as the website, services or legal requirements change. We will show the current version date on this page and provide further notice where required.
